Hi! I am Priya. I’m currently a first year PhD student in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington.

My research is at the intersection of information visualization, equity, protest and accountability. I am broadly interested in equitable ways of “humanizing” demographic data. My Master’s research explores the design of demographically diverse anthropographics for visualizing racial data to convey the humanity and lived experiences of the people behind the data.

I completed my MS in Computer Science from the University of Calgary in 2023 where I was part of the Interactions Lab and was advised by Dr.Wesley Willett in the Data Experience Lab.

I have a BA in Computer Science from Colgate University where I also worked as a data analyst in equity and diversity. I am from the small island nation of Mauritius. Outside of research, you can find me reading or hanging out in the sun.
